Biography as a makeup artist, educator

My beauty journey started when I was about 4 years old.

That’s when I helped myself to my mother’s lipsticks—which weren’t easy to come by in those days! I decided that day -and all days- should be Halloween, and I painted my face accordingly. In fact, Halloween is still one of my favorite holidays, with all those fun colors!

I’ve always loved colors. After painting my face in some iridescent hues I’d stand in front of the mirror for hours, admiring my handiwork.

As I grew, my love affair with makeup intensified. When I was a teenager, I would wear heavy, smoky eye makeup and end up looking rather goth. I’ve grown out of that stage, having come to appreciate natural beauty. It’s natural beauty that I focus on now.

But don’t get me wrong! I still love a wide palate of colors and working on creative photoshoots, pictorial projects, and editorial pieces.

That said, I’m self-taught. I never went to beauty school. Having dabbled on my own, I began watching videos. Eventually I would go on to attend makeup seminars from renowned makeup artists. It’s wonderful to have a strong fundamental background, but, as always…

Practice makes perfect!”

At this point, I’ve made up thousands of clients. Thousands. And yet I treat each as if it’s my very first, always abiding by what she wants. That’s because beauty is very personal. And, at the end of the day, I am not the one wearing it.

Of course, many clients ask my advice, which I’m happy to provide—as well as my honest opinion. Sometimes there’s a difference of that opinion: I might suggest a soft smoke whereas the client might think herself naked without sparkling gold eyeshadows. Ultimately, we both want the same thing: the client to leave happy and leaving her best self, and I do everything in my power to ensure that.

Makeup artist applies eye shadow

I like to think of myself as a good and patient teacher. I first taught makeup application back in Russia and have continued to do so stateside with world-renowned brands such as Chanel, Dior, NARS, and Shiseido. I’ve attended events and hosted events. I’ve been instructed and I’ve done the instruction. Ultimately, I’ve learned, truly, what customer satisfaction means.

Makeup classes can be very beneficial because, let’s face it, not all of us have the time or resources for a private makeup artist on the daily. Eventually, we all need to learn for ourselves. That’s what I’m here for. To help you every step of the way to find your perfect every day and occasion looks. We go slowly, methodically, and considerately. Together, we’ll help you find your best self! Before you know it, you’ll be a regular Michelangelo with that cat eye liner!

I am here to help. I very much want to help, and I’m looking forward to getting started. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Together, we can put out best faces on—and feet forward.
